On his own admission, Alvin retreated behind a wall of dope smoke. Whenever Ric and Leo, angry at being marginalised, managed to provoke a reaction out of Alvin it was invariably the wrong one.

It created a rift. And the recriminations continuing to this day. It dates back to when Leo started playing with Alvin, already a precocious guitarist, in local Nottingham band The Jaybirds.
